Many different elements lead to our food choices and these choices start right from childhood.

Initially the family environment establishes the foods we eat growing up. Other kids we mix with at school also determine our eating habits.

Youngsters will acquire bad eating habits from their parents and they will naturally begin to pick the exact types of foods as their parents due to the fact that’s what they are used to eating. Treat Your Valentine On Your Fat Burning Diet

Being on a fat burning diet does not mean you need to deprive yourself from tantalizing food.

Impress your Valentine with the following menu:

Starter: Smoked salmon salad

Main Course: Mediterranean Beef Casserole

Dessert: Lemon and Berry Roulade

Smoked Salmon Salad: (Quick & Easy)
Serves 4 | 487kJ | 3g fat | 8g carbs | Per Serving

Ingredients:
½ cucumber, cut into ribbons
1 bunch watercress
1 bunch of spring onions, shredded
1 small yellow pepper, thinly sliced
200g smoked salmon, cut into strips
1 lemon, cut into wedges

Low-Fat Dressing
100ml fat free yoghurt
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp clear honey
2 tbsp flat-leaf parsley

Method:
Combine the dressing ingredients, season well and set aside in the fridge until needed.
Do all the chopping in advance and assemble at the last minute. Divide the cucumber, watercress, spring onion and pepper among four plates.
Top with the salmon and place a wedge of lemon on the side.
Drizzle the dressing over and serve.

Mediterranean Beef Casserole

It fills you up and tastes terrific – it’s fat burning food, but not as you know it…

Ingredients:

Serves 4|1785kJ|18g fat|10g carb|per serving

2tbsp olive oil

750g very lean stewing steak, cut into large chunks

2 red onions, cut into thick wedges

2 red peppers, cut into thick slices

1 yellow pepper, cut into thick slices

600g ripe plum tomatoes, quartered

2 tbsp tomato paste

300ml red wine

150g mixed olives, drained

6 tbsp roughly chopped fresh oregano

2 heads garlic, halved

Method:

Preheat oven to 190?C

Heat the oil in a flameproof roasting tin.

Brown the beef in batches over a medium-high heat for 5min, then set aside

In the same pan, fry the onions and peppers for 5 min

Add remaining ingredients and 150ml water, season to taste

Cover with foil, bake for 1 hour.

Remove foil and bake further for 1 hour

Scatter with extra oregano leaves and serve with masses of vitamin packed veggies
