5 Dieting Tips for the Holiday Season

With big family dinners to attend, cookies, pie and other carbolicious treats being thrown in front of you in heaping amounts, it is tough to stick your fat burning diet during the holidays. It’s seems almost impossible to resist all the delicious morsels that abound during the holiday season. If you have trouble dieting during the holidays, here are five tips that will help you stay on the wagon.

5 Tips To Help With Big Family Dinners

Indulge Yourself Responsibly

It is difficult to smell the delicious aroma of food during big family dinners and not yearn to give in; especially when everyone else is in an eating frenzy. The solution here is portion control. Allow yourself a small amount of meat and stuffing or mashed potatoes. Have a little bit of yams if you like. Just keep your portions of these items small and eat much larger portions of healthier fat burning foods like vegetables and salads so you don’t walk away from the table hungry.

Don’t skip breakfast or lunch because you plan on eating a big dinner. By the time you sit down to eat dinner your resolve will be considerably weaker because you’ll be ravenous. Have your regular breakfast and lunch as well as some healthy snacks throughout the day so that you are not so hungry when the big meal comes.

Drink Plenty of Water

While this is probably already part of your fat burning diet plan, drinking lots of water is especially important during the holiday season. Water helps you feel full so that you’ll be less inclined to fill your plate with foods that aren’t on your diet. Drinking water during the meal will also help you pace yourself so that you don’t overindulge.

Resist Peer Pressure

If you are dining with family and/or friends, some hosts may feel that you don’t like their cooking if they see you eating very little. They might even, literally, put food in front of your face and say, “Eat up, there’s plenty here.” The best way to avoid this is to explain to the host, before the meal, that you are on a fat burning diet and you hope that he or she doesn’t mind that you have to limit how much of his or her scrumptious food you can eat.

Forgive Yourself

If you make a mistake and eat too much at a holiday event, don’t use it as an excuse to go off your diet for the rest of the holiday season. Stick to the game plan. If you have an off-day, try to make up for it by cutting some calories or adding extra fat burning exercise to your routine for a few days. Never skip meals to make up for mistakes the day before, though. Don’t let one slip-up be an excuse to give up on your fat burning diet altogether.

Sometimes dieters feel guilty during the holiday season because they have to limit how much they eat while everyone else is spoiling themselves. Keep your goals in mind and use these helpful tips so that you can enjoy yourself guilt-free. If you can resist temptation, you’ll make it through the holidays healthier and happier.

Dispelling Weight Loss Myths

There are many baseless folklore and legends going on about different things. The subject of weight loss has not been exempted. The reason why many people are still fat despite the number of weight loss methods and products available is because they continue to believe in weight loss myths. Some of these myths are so popular that they actually make sense to many people. You are probably subscribing to these myths without even knowing it. What’s alarming is that some of these myths are being perpetuated by so-called fitness experts through their half-baked books and DVDs.

CONFIRMED! Myth Busters

Weight Loss Myth Busting

Here in this article, you will learn about some of the most prevalent weight loss myths. Being aware of these myths is important because it can spell the difference between weight loss success and failure.

Eating Lots of Fat Free Foods Won’t Make Me Fat

Some people gore on fat free foods thinking that they can consume as much as they want of them without gaining weight. This is simply not true. People gain fat not really because of fat but because of calories. Fat free does not mean calorie free. If you don’t burn off the excess calories, your body will still store them as fat. Food labels can actually be misleading. The key is not to overeat on anything whether it is fat free or not. It may actually be better for you to stick to regular food items instead of fat free foods because at least the former can make you more conscious of what you are eating.

Spot Reduction Works

This is one of the most popular weight loss myths and this is also the reason why many people do hundreds of situps each day hoping to get  rid of their beer bellies. Spot reduction does not work. You cannot isolate a part of your body to reduce its size. For sure, doing hundreds of situps can increase the size of your ab muscles but if you will not burn the layer of fat covering your ab muscles, your pot belly will remain. If you want to get rid of the fat in a particular part of your body, then you must burn it through a whole body workout. There is no other way to do it.

How Effective Is Your Workout?

Many people believe that if you have not sweat buckets after a physical activity then it is not a work out. This is a very terrible myth because it is one of the reasons why people drop off from working out. As long as you are moving your body and you are employing your muscles and as long as you are doing it regularly, then any activity can be considered as working out. Even fun activities such as jumping up and down a mini trampoline such as a Needak rebounder is already a good workout. In fact, rebounding is one of the most beneficial workout routines available. Only ten minutes of rebounding each day will give you the benefits of a cardio workout and more.

The Best Healthy Eating Diet For You: Tips And Secrets

A diet rich in soy and whey protein, found in ...

Image via Wikipedia

It seems as if there is a new diet released every day, and sometimes even more often than that. With all of the competing plans out there, it can be difficult to figure out what the best healthy eating diet is for you.

However, it is important to find not only a diet that works, but one that you can stick to. You can start by writing down everything you eat and how you feel. You should do this as you are eating your regular diet, with no changes. Don’t worry about how healthy it is at this point. If you gulp down a double cheeseburger, doughnuts and soda, then write it down. This is so you can get a baseline to compare other diets to.

Keep doing this for a week or so and you will have a clear picture of the current state of your diet, and the effects your diet has on you. Once you know what your current eating habits are doing to you, you can start looking for other diets that will improve your health.

The next thing you need to do is consider what your weight loss goals are. For example, if you are overweight, or have diabetes, then you should look for a healthy eating diet that fits those goals. However, if you are just looking to improve your general state of health, then any eating plan that appears to be nutritionally sound should be fine.

Now it’s simply a matter of repeating the process of tracking what you eat and how it makes you feel. Feel free to add any other notes, such as times you “cheat” on your new diet, your weight (if that’s a concern), thoughts, or anything else that you think is worthy of making a note of. As a word of caution: if you have been used to an unhealthy diet, and then you suddenly switch to eating food that is better for you, you’re going to feel kind of funny for the first few days. This is because your body is, in effect, relearning how to deal with real food. Keep tracking what you eat, and you should notice that you’re feeling better than ever after a few days of your new healthy eating diet.

Different diets have a different effect on people, so it’s important to know how the food you eat has an impact on you. For example, a lot of people that try high-carbohydrate, low-fat diets often find that they can get irritable and drowsy. If this happens to you, and you still feel that way after a few weeks, then it may be time to consider another healthy eating diet.

However, before you switch to another plan of any kind, review your food log to see if there may be specific foods that are causing the problem. You should be able to find a replacement for a particular food, as opposed to switching over to an entirely new healthy eating diet. Both ways, sticks with it, and you will eventually find the best diet for you.
