Ingredients:
½ cucumber, cut into ribbons
1 bunch watercress
1 bunch of spring onions, shredded
1 small yellow pepper, thinly sliced
200g smoked salmon, cut into strips
1 lemon, cut into wedges

Low-Fat Dressing
100ml fat free yoghurt
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp clear honey
2 tbsp flat-leaf parsley

Method:
Combine the dressing ingredients, season well and set aside in the fridge until needed.
Do all the chopping in advance and assemble at the last minute. Divide the cucumber, watercress, spring onion and pepper among four plates.
Top with the salmon and place a wedge of lemon on the side.
Drizzle the dressing over and serve.

Mediterranean Beef Casserole

It fills you up and tastes terrific – it’s fat burning food, but not as you know it…

Ingredients:

Serves 4|1785kJ|18g fat|10g carb|per serving

2tbsp olive oil

750g very lean stewing steak, cut into large chunks

2 red onions, cut into thick wedges

2 red peppers, cut into thick slices

1 yellow pepper, cut into thick slices

600g ripe plum tomatoes, quartered

2 tbsp tomato paste

300ml red wine

150g mixed olives, drained

6 tbsp roughly chopped fresh oregano

2 heads garlic, halved

Method:

Preheat oven to 190?C

Heat the oil in a flameproof roasting tin.

Brown the beef in batches over a medium-high heat for 5min, then set aside

In the same pan, fry the onions and peppers for 5 min

Add remaining ingredients and 150ml water, season to taste

Cover with foil, bake for 1 hour.

Remove foil and bake further for 1 hour

Scatter with extra oregano leaves and serve with masses of vitamin packed veggies

I have been studying nutrition information for years trying to find the best diet that burns fat, but it wasn’t until I stumbled across the results with personal experimentation in 2006 that I finally figured out the best way to burn fat with dietary changes.

In the past, I had tried high-carbohydrate diets (in the early 1990’s), high-protein diets (in the late 1990’s), and low-carbohydrate diets (in the early 2000’s). Each of them worked well for burning fat, but all had their drawbacks. The high-carbohydrate diet helped me lose body fat, but required a lot of exercise and also made me tired. The high-protein diet worked for fat loss, but required extra water intake. And the low-carbohydrate diet helped me burn belly fat, but I also had some tiredness on this program as well.

It wasn’t until I finally combined the best of all three diet plans into one that I experienced the best fat burning results, allowing me to go from my usual 10% body fat down to 8-9% body fat consistently. Plus, I was able to train at a very high-intensity, and was at my peak strength and fitness levels. In fact, some days I was able to train with clients as well, and do two workouts in one day because I had so much mental and physical energy.

The best diet that burns fat does not eliminate any nutrient. You could almost say that it is high in protein, carbohydrates, and fat. You take the best of the high-carbohydrate diet – an unlimited amount of fruits and vegetables – and combine that with the best of the high-protein diet and the high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet. For protein, you can eat omega-3 eggs, nuts, chicken, organic beef, and beans. For fat, you’ll get plenty of healthy fats from fish oils, the Omega-3 eggs, and the nuts (almonds, cashews, pecans, and walnuts). As you can see, the best fat burning diet is the high-whole, natural foods diet. Forget about anything from a bag or a box.

There are many things you need to remove to make this the best fat burning diet for weight loss. The first thing to remove is sugar, but that doesn’t make any fat burning diet. Sugar is a no-no for weight loss. Then you need to eliminate all the processed carbohydrates such as bread, breakfast cereals, granola bars, and pretzels – even if you think those are healthy, they don’t make the best fat loss diet – sorry!

You also need to eliminate protein sources such as processed meats, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Forget about the junk. Quit justifying it because you are the Atkins diet or because you are a bodybuilder that needs protein. The truth is you can survive without it, and if you want the best fat burning diet, that’s what you’ll have to do.

Finally, not all fat is bad fat, but you do need to eliminate all the Trans-fats from your diet. That should be easy if you get rid of all the processed foods, and avoid junk food.

At the end of the day, you are only left with fat burning foods that are in their non-modified form. If it didn’t look like that in nature, it doesn’t belong on your plate. That’s why bread and breakfast cereals don’t make the cut. No matter how much whole-wheat is in them, they still have been modified. Stick with fruits and vegetables instead for your carbohydrate sources on the best fat burning diet.

With so many obese people in the world, our only option is to start eating healthy. Healthy fat burning diets usually include various fat burning foods, such as greens, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, olive oil, berries etc.

Although many people try to stay healthy, the sad truth is that many more fail in their quest to conquer the food addiction. Additionally there are so many contradicting stories on what is healthy and what is not. No wonder it is so easy to fall prey to every new gimmick on the market. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to educate oneself on what is good for you and what not.

Armed with this information you can be sure your fat burning diet is helping you to lose weight and stay healthy. We all have common sense. By using it, you will quickly realize you would not starve yourself to death. Therefore, diets that propagate a too low intake of calories are not healthy and you probably will not stick with it to the end.

Equally important is that your body needs food from all categories of the food pyramid. All meals should include proteins, fats, sugars, fibers, vitamins and minerals. Only by giving your body all, the essential nutrients it requires to sustain itself you will be able to succeed with your fat burning diet.

This takes some planning and for some of us planning can be hard because we are so much into the “mindlessly munching on pretzels” habit. You have to admit it, it’s a lot easier to reach out for a bag of whatever junk food is available than to plan a balanced meal with healthy fat burning food.

This also means that if you plan to replace crisps with a fruit, you won’t feel good. In fact, the cravings will most probably drive you to such an extent that you will be unable to resist the crisps after all. An apple plus plain low fat yogurt, for example, is more fulfilling than two apples. It is far better to mix and match the different fat burning food to create a metabolism furnace.

Also, keep in mind that raw food is better (healthier) than cooked food. Try to eat as much raw food as possible. However, sometimes it is better to cook specific food as they may harbor toxic compounds that can wreak havoc on your digestive tract.

Carrots on the other hand contain fragile nutrients that will be destroyed in a frying pan. Cooked carrots still contain very important nutrients and vitamins.  Cooked or raw, carrots are always enjoyable.

Is sushi any better than grilled salmon? Apparently not! What to do then? The best way is to eat a mixture of raw and cooked veggies and fruit. No need to torture yourself to eat raw stuff if you usually eat it cooked. Be experimental and use your culinary skills to create interesting dishes.

Make your choices of fat burning food according to your own liking. If you see your food burning diet as an adventure, you may be in for a new taste bud experience and uncover food that you never thought of before.

Fat burning diets are more than something you try for a couple of weeks every now and then. No, no, no. It is a changed lifestyle, a changed perspective on your views of food.

Try to stay clear of sugary things, fats and eating huge portions or second helpings. If your love food is chocolate then demonizes it will frustrate you and most likely sabotage your best intentions. So be kind to yourself and your cravings.
