Overcome Emotional Eating with Fat Burning Diets

As we get our nutrients from food, we cannot be without the eating part in our lives. However, some of us forget about healthy living and may go overboard with our eating habits. This article is looking how fat burning diets can help take control over emotional eating.

In practice, emotional eating end with the scale, but it begins with your mindset. Stress is a major culprit in emotional eating. Always remember when you are on a low, food cannot solve your problems. It will more likely add to your problems due to gaining unwanted weight by straying from your healthy fat burning diet.

Good days and bad days come to everybody.  Emotional eating comes into play with our ability to deal with bad days. We all want to be comforted, without judgment, when hurt. That is what food does for the emotional eater. It does not judge you, or hurt you, or tells you “no”. Enjoyable foods may stimulate the release of endorphins to make you feel better.
Food is the emotional eater’s stress relieve valve. It is far better, for them, to hide behind food than to find solutions for problems. Alas, hiding will not solve the problems and the viscous cycle start from anew. More food to feel better with weight gain as the result.

How do you know if you use food as a crutch? Obviously, you will start to gain weight. If you recently started to put on some weight, now is the time to take stock of your life. Examine the following areas of your life:

* Have you been under stress lately at work or at home?
* Has anything traumatic happened in the last year?
* Are you dealing with a problem but haven’t found a solution?

Answering “yes” to any of these questions could mean that you are an emotional eater.  You eat but you are not necessarily hungry at the time. The foods that you choose are what we term “comfort foods”:

* High fat foods like French fries, fried foods
* High carb foods like macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes
* Sugary foods like ice cream, donuts, cookies, cake

There is help for emotional eaters. The first step is recognizing that you have a problem.  You’ll experience feelings of helplessness and guilt.  The guilt is over potentially ruining your health and the helplessness lies in the fact that you don’t see a way out.

A counselor might suggest things like visualization, practicing problem solving skills, relaxation techniques and family support. Visualization helps you to see your problems in a realistic way and not blown out of proportion.  You will also learn to see food as nutrition for the body and not an emotional crutch.

Fat Burning Diets Are About Healthy Choices!

Fat burning diets are a wonderful way to lose weight and feel great. As in all things in life, you need to stick to the rules otherwise all your efforts will be in vain.Healthy Strawberry Smoothie

With so many obese people in the world, our only option is to start eating healthy. Healthy fat burning diets usually include various fat burning foods, such as greens, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, olive oil, berries etc.

Although many people try to stay healthy, the sad truth is that many more fail in their quest to conquer the food addiction. Additionally there are so many contradicting stories on what is healthy and what is not. No wonder it is so easy to fall prey to every new gimmick on the market. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to educate oneself on what is good for you and what not.

Armed with this information you can be sure your fat burning diet is helping you to lose weight and stay healthy. We all have common sense. By using it, you will quickly realize you would not starve yourself to death. Therefore, diets that propagate a too low intake of calories are not healthy and you probably will not stick with it to the end.

Equally important is that your body needs food from all categories of the food pyramid. All meals should include proteins, fats, sugars, fibers, vitamins and minerals. Only by giving your body all, the essential nutrients it requires to sustain itself you will be able to succeed with your fat burning diet.

This takes some planning and for some of us planning can be hard because we are so much into the “mindlessly munching on pretzels” habit. You have to admit it, it’s a lot easier to reach out for a bag of whatever junk food is available than to plan a balanced meal with healthy fat burning food.

This also means that if you plan to replace crisps with a fruit, you won’t feel good. In fact, the cravings will most probably drive you to such an extent that you will be unable to resist the crisps after all. An apple plus plain low fat yogurt, for example, is more fulfilling than two apples. It is far better to mix and match the different fat burning food to create a metabolism furnace.

Also, keep in mind that raw food is better (healthier) than cooked food. Try to eat as much raw food as possible. However, sometimes it is better to cook specific food as they may harbor toxic compounds that can wreak havoc on your digestive tract.

Carrots on the other hand contain fragile nutrients that will be destroyed in a frying pan. Cooked carrots still contain very important nutrients and vitamins.  Cooked or raw, carrots are always enjoyable.

Is sushi any better than grilled salmon? Apparently not! What to do then? The best way is to eat a mixture of raw and cooked veggies and fruit. No need to torture yourself to eat raw stuff if you usually eat it cooked. Be experimental and use your culinary skills to create interesting dishes.

Make your choices of fat burning food according to your own liking. If you see your food burning diet as an adventure, you may be in for a new taste bud experience and uncover food that you never thought of before.

Fat burning diets are more than something you try for a couple of weeks every now and then. No, no, no. It is a changed lifestyle, a changed perspective on your views of food.

Try to stay clear of sugary things, fats and eating huge portions or second helpings. If your love food is chocolate then demonizes it will frustrate you and most likely sabotage your best intentions. So be kind to yourself and your cravings.

Fat burning diets and healthy lifestyles are not about giving up on foods we love, but on making choices that are sustainable for long term – for a lifetime actually! These choices will enhance your life and create a new healthy you.

Healthy Fat Burning Diets

Your daily intake of food is basically your diet. You may therefore be on an unhealthy and fat gaining diet or you can choose to change your lifestyle to a healthy fat burning diet.

Fat burning diets help you to shed unwanted pounds but also reprogram your body to burn calories more effectively.

Healthy diets contain all the necessary food groups in the food pyramid. To make intelligent decisions about diets and your health you need to know the different categories in the food pyramid.

Carbohydrates (Carbs)

Carbs forms the basis of the food pyramid. The food in this section fills you up and is your main energy source. Food in this category includes cereals, bread, pasta, rice etc. Healthy diets include this section but with emphasis on whole grain food.

For quick weight loss, you can exclude them. The question you have to answer is do you want to lose weight quickly or do you want a diet that will change your view on fat burning food.

Fruit and Vegetables

There is nothing as refreshing as a salad consisting of fresh, raw veggies and fruit. Loaded with fiber, vitamins, minerals and minimal calories they are your ideal food in any diet.

Protein does the following without you even knowing it.

Fat

Fat calories are more readily stored in your body as fat. One gram of fat equals nine calories. Fat plays an important roll by delivering vitamins A, D, E en K. Fat can be divided in 3 main groups.

Saturated Fats (bad): It increases your cholesterol levels and may increase your risk for heart diseases.  These fats are usually in animal products. By choosing the leaner cuts, you are ensuring that you get your protein and cut out the bad fat.

Poli-unsaturated Fats (good): There are two types namely omega-3 and omega-6. Fish contains these fats and fat burning diets high in omega-3 may help protect you against heart diseases. New studies show that these fats can help you maintain a healthy weight.

Mono-unsaturated Fats (good): Nuts, olives, peanuts, avocado’s, olive- and canola oil are sources of mono-unsaturated fats. Mono-unsaturated fats helps to lower cholesterol levels and protect you against heart diseases, but they also helps you to burn fat and to eat less.
