Have you wondered why you can’t lose weight even though you have tried everything to decrease your calorie intake? This is true since weight issues have multi-factorial causes. You can’t just rely on diet for total weight loss, sometimes there are other factors why you always gain weight. Below are some factors that you think they didn’t matter before, but once you look at them closely, you’ll see that they do matter! Check them out.

Lack of Sleep

Researchers have found out that sleep cycles can balance the hormones responsible for food cravings and overeating, mainly Ghrelin and Leptin. Ghrelin a hormone said to stimulate hunger and digestion is usually released during a prolonged empty stomach, while leptin is a hormone secreted by fat cells which creates feelings of satiety. Leptin increases along with insulin when you eat but decreases at a percentage of 15% when you sleep 5 hours or less. This means that you actually starve more and feel less full when you lack sleep, and this goes all day until you really get some serious rest. Best advice? Sleep well and get proper balance of these hormones.

Stress

Stress can be of any form and the most common stressors come from work. Studies have shown that stress actually increases your weight. With too much stress, a person is more likely to do lesser physical activities and tends to eat more. As a result the normal digestion pattern is altered. The best way to counter stress and avoid weight gain is through physical exercise and activity. Start introducing simple forms of exercise into your daily routine and do as much effort to stand and get a move on to avoid further stress.

Watching too much television or staying too long on computers

Watching too much television or even facing the computer all the time would definitely increase your weight. People usually go home from work or school and lay in the living room and watch TV the whole night. Instead of spending so much time in TV or computers, try to spend more time with your kids or dogs and play games or go with them for walks. Take note of the stagnant lifestyle that you’ve been doing. Try to correct it and spend some more time outdoor, have some fresh air and do more exercises to lose weight.

Caffeine on coffees

Drinking too much coffee (with or without caffeine) may affect your appetite and eating because caffeine increases the levels of cortisol and blood sugar. Also, caffeine may increase anxiety which in turn increases stress level. Now to avoid drinking too much coffee, you can have alternatives like water, natural energy drinks or green tea (or any sort of tea). They are much better than just relying on coffee all day long. Remember that too much of anything is bad. Try to have less caffeine by having healthy alternative beverages or drinks, and protect your health with diets to lose weight.

These factors as small as they may be they can very well ruin your weight loss program. Try to take note of these and make some necessary changes. Nevertheless enjoy the ride to losing weight. Good luck!

My Wife The Weight Loss Superstar!

My wife really is a weight loss superstar; at least in my eyes anyway. She has struggled with her weight for years, but in the last few months she has managed to bring it right under control. I’d love her just the same no matter what weight she was; it wasn’t like she was that heavy. It is great to see her so happy and confident though, and this time it seems that she really will keep her weight under control. I’ve seen her try and fail before, but there really is something different about this current attempt.

In the past my wife has tried one fad diet after another. She will also go on these fitness frenzies where she will work really hard for a few weeks, but then end up getting injured. Her recent attempt though at losing weight was a lot more controlled; instead of just cutting down on her food or overdoing it with exercise she has instead made life changes. She has made a few changes to her diet, and just goes for a walk in the evenings. Her progress losing the weight has been slower than other attempts, but she has now reached her ideal weight. In the past when she hit this magic number she would return to her old ways, but this time she is just continuing with the current life changes and it now seems to take no effort on her part.

My wife has done well, and hopefully there will be no more worry about her weight. As well as making her more confident it is probably going to be better for her health. She has been a great inspiration for me and although my weight isn’t a problem she has inspired me to make other changes in my life – including giving up coffee.

I think that my wife is a good example for other people who are struggling to keep their weight down. She is proof that you can make it work even if you have failed many times in the past. The secret isn’t anything to drastic or any type of fad died or fitness regime, but instead the way to do it is to make simple changes that you will be able to keep. I think some people do worry too much about a bit of extra weight, but if losing it can make people feel better about themselves I suppose it’s worth it.

  • Another major cause for failure is no fat burning workouts. If you do not like exercising think creatively on how you can get active.  Take a brisk walk in the park, play ball with the children, or join a dance club. Life is so full of fun things to do. All you have to do is get off from the couch!
  • The third reason is that many do not have a support system.  Get yourself a partner in this fat burning adventure.  It will make life so much easier to have somebody that shares in your lows and highs.  Also, talk to your family and friends. See your end goal, but also have smaller milestones to motivate you to stay focused.  Small victories give eventually way to ultimate success.  I have a beautiful dress (way to small for me now) hanging from the windowpane.  This way I can visualize my end result and it also gives me that extra incentive to stay focused.

Like in all things, you need to choose wisely.  Choose a fat burning diet and fat burning workouts that fits your personality.  Knowing your strengths and your weaknesses will empower you.  I will leave you with the old saying true beauty is beauty from within.
